DTG (direct-to-garment) printing
DTG works like an inkjet printer for T-shirts: water-based inks are printed straight into the cotton fibres. The result is soft, breathable and full of detail, perfect for photographic art, creator merch and short runs.

Direct printing
The garment is printed in full colour on a flat platen.
- 3
Heat curing
A heat press cures the ink into the fibres for wash-fastness.

What is DTG printing?
Direct-to-garment printing sprays water-based ink straight into cotton fibres, like an inkjet printer for T-shirts, giving a soft finish with no raised edge.
DTG vs DTF
DTG feels softer and suits photographic art on 100% cotton; DTF is more durable and works on polyester and blends.
Fabric requirements
DTG needs 100% cotton. For dri-fit or poly-cotton garments we recommend DTF or sublimation instead.
DTG printing: common questions
Does DTG fade?
DTG prints soften slightly over time like vintage prints. Washing inside out in cold water keeps them bright longer.
Can DTG print on black T-shirts?
Yes, using a white underbase, though prints on light cotton are the most vibrant.
Is DTG good for bulk orders?
DTG suits small and medium runs. For 100 or more identical T-shirts, screen printing is usually more economical.
